Henderson is unbeaten as Liverpool skipper…

Current vice-captain Jordan Henderson has worn the armband on 12 occasions so far this season, and his record as stand-in skipper is brilliant.

When captaining Liverpool, Henderson’s overseen nine victories and three draws – and has yet to suffer a defeat.

Due to Steven Gerrard’s injury problems, Henderson’s been required to fill in a lot recently – and he’s clearly relished the role – leading us excellently yesterday, and bagging a blockbuster goal to boot.

Henderson is the favourite to take over as full-time captain when Steven Gerrard moves to MLS in the summer, and this record will only help him get the permanent gig for 2015/16, although Brendan Rodgers has told the media that Henderson is not an automatic choice for the role.

While Henderson doesn’t have the talent of a prime Steven Gerrard (how many players do?), his work-rate, consistency, desire and an increasingly improving end product make him a superb vice-captain currently, and potentially a superb full-time skipper one day too.
