Could this spell the end for one of our forwards?
Liverpool are in the chase for Villarreal striker Luciano Vietto according to the player’s agent.
The young Argentine has been in hot form this season with 11 goals in La Liga and five in the Europa League but the Reds could face competition with Real Madrid and two undisclosed Bundesliga clubs also linked.
“We know that a lot of big clubs are watching Luciano Vietto,” said Jorge Cysterpiller, reports AS.
“There is a lot of competition for him. He could sign for Liverpool, we know that he is admired by the Reds, as well as Real Madrid and two Bundesliga clubs. I think he could leave Villarreal in the summer.”
The report states that the player has a release clause of €10 million, a relatively paltry amount for someone in such scintillating form.
And perhaps we have a leg up if we are chasing him, with the player commenting recently on our supposed scouting by saying: “If these great teams come forward and make an offer, we’ll see.”
However, any move would have to be completed fast with AS reporting that Real Madrid have serious interest in a deal following his masterclass against Los Blancos at the weekend.
Should we be targeting someone such as Vietto? It’s a quite small mooted fee considering what we’ve spent in the past on forward players , but who would his arrival spell an end for?
