Attacking midfielder Adam Lallana is the latest to heap praise on stand-in skipper Jordan Henderson, who’s been especially exceptional during our past two victories, reports the Mirror.

Henderson scored a long-range stunner to open the scoring versus Manchester City at the weekend, before swerving in a pile-driver against Burnley on Wednesday.

“He’s unbelievable. For me, he has matured as a player over the last two years and kicked on to another level, even with the armband,” Lallana said of his 24-year-old teammate.

What’s more, Lallana reckons that the fact Henderson has captained the side in recent weeks due to Steven Gerrard’s absence through injury has helped his performances.

And the statistics back it up. In the six Premier League matches Henderson’s captained throughout, we’re yet to lose or draw a game.

“I was lucky enough to be captain at Southampton and it does give you that little bit extra,” Lallana continued. “It seems it is doing the same to him as well. It’s great to be playing with such great players – the results are on the up.”
