Liverpool are the latest club to be linked with a shock move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic…

If you thought the Metro had come up with some hilariously outrageous transfer rumours in the past, wait until you see this one! The transfer rumour mill has landed on Zlatan Ibrahimovic and bizarrely linked him with Liverpool.

According to the report, the Reds have emerged as the favourites to sign the towering Swede, ahead of rival interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.

However, the rumour seems to be based around nothing more than the player’s apparent frustration with life at current club, Paris Saint Germain. He called France a ‘s**t country’ after his side’s defeat to Bordeaux last weekend, and his odds on a move to Merseyside have been cut to 8/1 by bookmakers.

For all the good it will do, it may as well be 800/1. The 33-year-old is clearly an extremely talented individual, having scored 328 career goals during spells with Juventus, Barcelona and both Milan sides, but could not be further from a normal Brendan Rodgers transfer target.

The Northern Irishman has made a habit of signing young players with plenty of potential, while Zlatan is unlikely to be suited to the Reds’ pressing style of play – and he doesn’t have great speed either, and could be accused of laziness, too. (Remind you of anyone in our current squad…?)

This is simply not going to happen, but it’s an interesting thought if nothing else!
