Another to add to the ‘never going to happen’ pile…
The Metro has once again outdone itself with its latest transfer rumour, claiming Liverpool are in talks with Benfica for the £43.6 million rated winger Eduardo Salvio.
Jamie Sanderson, who penned the article, claims that we’ve been scouting the 24-year-old for months. We will now try and begin talks with the Portuguese giants but are particularly confident of completing a deal.
However, forgive us if here at EOTK if we don’t celebrate too wildly just yet.
This incredulous report follows similarly unbelievable claims that have all seemingly appeared just as the Argentine star is set to negotiate a new deal with the club.
In what would be one of the classic agent moves, we’d suggest that Liverpool’s reputation and prestige as a top European side is being used by Mr Salvio’s reps in order to scare Benfica into upping their current offer lest they risk losing their best players.
In order to keep their man and ward off this unlikely Liverpool interest, expect Benfica to cave into whatever ludicrous demands Salvio is likely asking for.
Sorry Lazar, you’re probably not going to be playing with your former teammate any time soon – especially for that kind of barbaric transfer fee.
