Raheem Sterling was showing no signs of his rumoured toe injury as he scored his first ever England goal this season – the Three Lions third of the night during their Euro 2016 qualifier against Lithuania.

The 20-year-old had been widely tipped to miss England’s friendly game against Italy on Tuesday, but was included from the start tonight, and was rewarded with a fine close-range finish.

Liverpool fans will no doubt be anxious to see Sterling’s evening come to an end sooner rather than later, in order to ensure that he doesn’t join the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana on the injury list.

Sterling will likely play a major role in the Reds upcoming run of crucial Premier League games following the international break, which starts with Arsenal next weekend.

The clash with the Gunners will be all the more important following our disappointing loss against Manchester United, as finishing in the top four once again is a top priority.
