Reports in the Daily Mirror claim that the player is likely to be the subject of a lengthy transfer saga during the summer break, regardless of whether Aitor Karanka’s side are able to secure a spot in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old England youth-team international came through the club’s youth academy, making his senior debut in 2010 prior to a series of loan moves.

He can play as both a centre-back or a left-back, while his uncle is Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson. He has featured 33 times for the club in all competitions so far this season, helping them top the division.

The Mirror believes that Gibson could be worth as much as £10m during the upcoming transfer window, with his value only set to increase as the Premier League step up their rules on home-grown players.
