The Reds new gear for the 2015-16 campaign was released on Friday afternoon and speaking shortly after the announcement, the midfielder expressed his delight that it ‘reflected the passion of the fans’.

Our new kit, which is available for pre-order now, features a chequerboard pattern on the shirt and is inspired from the red and white colours created by supporters on the Kop during games.

The 24-year-old, who was quoted by our official website, said: “Our fans create a great atmosphere at Anfield, and it is great to have a kit that reflects the red and white mosaic made when the fans on the Kop hold their flags and scarves aloft.

“The kit feels great and I’m pleased the New Balance team considered what the players need from a kit when it was designed. The material is very comfortable and the players are delighted with the result.”

Henderson has been in fine form so far this season, making a career-high 46 appearances in all competitions and scoring seven goals – including two recent thunderbolts against Manchester City and Burnley.

He’s worn the captain’s armband for much of 2015 due to Steven Gerrard’s recent injury problems, as well as his current suspension. He’s widely expected to take it over on a permanent basis once our No. 8 leaves for LA at the end of the season.
