The Slovakian defender has been an integral player for the Reds so far this season, playing a pivotal role in both our back three and back four so far this term. However, he has less than 18 months to run on his current deal.

There has been plenty of speculation over recent weeks that he could be among a trio of Reds stars who might leave the club, rather than extend his stay, with the futures of Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson the other major talking points (via the Daily Express).

Thankfully, rumours of the 30-year-old’s potential exit this summer appear to have proved false, with his agent Karol Csonto confirming that there have been no offers from any potential suitors.

In quotes taken by the Metro, Csonto said: “The only offer which is lying on Martin Skrtel’s table right now is the extension of his contract from Liverpool.

“We have been working on the details, and we will be finalising it soon. It is not true that he has some offer from the German club. I don’t know anything even about their interest.”

Henderson is also believe to be close to sealing a new deal (via the Daily Mail), with a £100,000-per-week extension seemingly enough to tie him down to an extended stay on Merseyside.
