Twitter is abuzz right now with Liverpool fans celebrating the fact that Jordan Henderson has signed a new long-term deal to remain with the club for the foreseeable future.

The 24-year-old, who has made 180 appearances during his first four years at the club, is widely expected to be named as Brendan Rodgers’ new captain next season, following the departure of Steven Gerrard.
With the contract done, Liverpool fans will surely be hoping that their England international star now sets his mind to ensuring that we’re playing Champions League football next season, something that’s likely to require six wins out of six in our final set of domestic fixtures.
Henderson had his first taste of playing in Europe’s premier competition this season, while he also featured in our short-lived Europa League run. A player of his quality needs to be playing at the top level.
