Steven Gerrard tells Raheem Sterling what he has to do

Steven Gerrard has urged Raheem Sterling to renew his contract with Liverpool and put the constant transfer speculation to bed.

As we all know far too well, Sterling has rejected a £100k-per-week extension offer, and gave a lengthy interview to the BBC in which he confirmed as much back in April, but claimed he wasn’t a money grabber.

As a result, rumours surrounding the wonderkid’s future have circled ever since, with the Daily Star the latest publication to link both Arsenal and Chelsea with summer bids for his services.

James Pearce of the Echo, and Juliette Ferrington of the BBC tweeted Gerrard’s quotes live from a press-conference today…

Gerrard will remain as much of a supporter of Liverpool even after he departs to MLS this summer, so it’s no surprise that he wants us to keep our best players.

Only the skipper himself has outscored Sterling the top flight this year, and at 20-years-old, our young winger has the talent to develop into one of the very best players in Europe…

Ominously though, Gerrard has admitted that he has ‘no control’ over Sterling’s decision, with the Daily Mail reporting that the attacker has already started the process of putting his house on the market.
