Istanbul – The Reunion: Live Stream

Posted by

ON May 25th, next Monday, it will be 10 years since Liverpool won the Champions League in Istanbul. We couldn’t let the greatest night in the history of Liverpool Football Club pass by without a party, so we’re having a massive one, at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, with the Istanbul ’05 squad. The arena is sold out but we want fans to join us, wherever they are in the world, for the biggest football party ever!

Join us on our live stream, help our charities and be a part of another special Liverpool FC night.

The years have flown by since that crazy night in Istanbul when the Reds won their fifth European Cup – despite being 3-0 down at half time. One of the greatest comebacks in history saw Rafa Benitez’s men pull it back to 3-3 with goals from Steven Gerrard, Vladimir Smicer and Xabi Alonso, before extra time heroics from Jamie Carragher, Sami Hyypia and of course Jerzy Dudek led us to another European Cup final penalty shootout.

And then, that moment Liverpool fans will never forget. The Champions League was was coming home to Anfield. For keeps.

Those players gave fans quite possibly the greatest occasion of their lives and although we can never live up to that we’re going to have a good go and make Monday another night to remember.

As Jamie Carragher says: “If the fans create the same atmosphere, the roof will come off the Arena.”

Fans who can’t make it to Liverpool or couldn’t get tickets can join in the fun on the live stream, available at 5times.co.uk/stream for a nominal fee.

There will be interviews and commentary from those at the heart of the Miracle of Istanbul. The players will take us through the build-up, the tension and the tortured emotions as the Italian side took that 3-0 lead. They’ll also talk about the sheer enormity of the comeback, the pressures of the penalty shootout and, finally, the euphoria of seeing team captain, Steven Gerrard, hoist the European Cup above his head as Liverpool Football Club sealed their place in football history.

Both the event and the live stream are raising funds for charities including the 23 Foundation.
