According to the Daily Star, items like mugs and phone cases depicting the pair have seen their prices halved in a premature end of season sale.

But, could it possibly be a hint that both players could be shown the exit door in the summer?

BBC Sport reported this week that Sterling would not be sold at the end of the campaign, despite reports suggesting that he will not sign a new deal at Anfield. With two years left on his current contract, his future lies in our hands for the time-being. This may just suggest that Brendan Rodgers would rather lose the 20-year-old than keep him around the club.

Surprisingly, the same controversy does not surround Balotelli currently. Nevertheless, the former Manchester City man has struggled during his first year on Merseyside, and it is therefore difficult to imagine that many tears shall be shed should he move on after just one season.

If this does mean that both players are now on the market, then it would probably be the best thing for the club and the players themselves. Sterling has burnt his bridges with us with his recent actions, while Balotelli just hasn’t justified the £16m that the Daily Mail report we spent on him.
