Liverpool’s team of the season – No room for Joe Allen; Raheem Sterling up front

The Premier League season has come to an end. For the most part, it’s been a campaign to forget for us Liverpool fans, despite the success we enjoyed during the early part of 2015, which culminated in a 13 game unbeaten run.

There were a handful of memorable performances – including the wins against Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton – but unfortunately those wins only provided the first couple of names on this team-sheet – with the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Simon Mignolet the only clear-cut choices for our team of the season.

Who else made our side? You can see it in full below and find out…

GK) Simon Mignolet

Much improved during the second-half of the season and back to the goalkeeper we know and love. He finished the campaign with 14 Premier League clean-sheets, a fantastic effort considering his issues earlier in the year.

RCB) Emre Can

Ended the season with a nightmare performance against Stoke City but his season as a whole has to be viewed as a success. Considering that he has been regularly moved around and played out of position he’s done a great job.

CB) Martin Skrtel

Just the one goal for the Slovakian this season, which was a bit of a disappointment considering how prolific he was last year. Thankfully, he’s been as solid as ever defensively and can definitely hold his head high this summer.

LCB) Mamadou Sakho

It’s been a hit and miss season for the Frenchman but he edges out Dejan Lovren for the third centre-back spot. That’s mainly down to the role he played in our unbeaten run earlier this year, when he was key in this position.
