According to the Liverpool Echo, the 35-year-old – who will move to LA Galaxy this summer – will lift the lid on his career once again, having previously had a book published in 2007.
The Echo report that The Guardian writer Donald McRae will ghost-write the book. The South African is the only two-time winner of the William Hill Sports Book of the Year, so is certainly capable of doing justice to Gerrard’s incredible career.
Since the first book – that was co-written by Henry Winter – the midfielder has become England captain, been to three international tournaments, lifted the Carling Cup, and experienced the emotional highs and desperate lows of a couple of Premier League title races. To say that we are looking forward to its release is a massive understatement.
By the time the book does come out, the new season shall be in full swing, and our Europa League campaign will be underway. Hopefully, while we will hugely miss seeing him in a Liverpool shirt, our performances will suggest that there is reason for optimism in the post-Gerrard era.
