The BBC, along with plenty of other respectable sources, claim we’ll finalise a deal this week, which will go through on July 1st when the transfer window officially opens.

The 29-year-old’s contract expires this summer, meaning we’ve been able to freely approach him – without the need to pay our rivals in Sky Blue a transfer fee…

The report claims we’re extremely confident of completing a deal – while the Guardian reckons we’re going to similarly target Danny Ings from Burnley on a free, too.

Milner’s been with City five years, winning two Premier League titles, but never truly establishing himself a cemented spot in the team – partly due to his versatility and partly due to the more flamboyant players available in pivotal positions.

On a Bosman deal, the Milner seal seems like a sensible one – although we hope he’s not the only ‘central midfield Steven Gerrard replacement’ we bring in this summer, and target a bigger, slightly younger name as well.
