Danny Ings has extended his thanks to the Liverpool fans who have been taking to social media to welcome him to the club. The striker, who agreed terms on a move from Burnley on Monday, will complete his switch to Anfield at the start of next month when his Clarets contract expires.
Ings described us as a ‘special club’ and promised to give everything to be successful on Merseyside. His words will no doubt be welcomed by Kopites far and wide, who are desperate for the 22-year-old to be a hit after a difficult season for us, particularly in terms of scoring goals.
The England Under-21 international enjoyed a solid season with Burnley this year, despite their relegation to the Championship, scoring 11 goals and keeping them within touching distance of survival until the closing weeks of the season.
He also outscored all four of our strikers – Daniel Sturridge, Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini – who for a variety of reasons struggled to produce on route to our sixth place Premier League finish.
Here’s what Ings had to say on Tuesday evening:
Thanks for your messages. Delighted to be joining #LFC. A special club with great players. I will give everything to be successful.
