We sealed a deal for our third new player – goalkeeper Adam Bogdan – on Friday and Carragher believes we deserve more credit for our off-season performance thus far.

We’ve already picked up three decent additions to our squad, with James Milner and Danny Ings also having signed on the dotted line, and we’ve barely spent a penny – with a compensation fee for Ings, which has yet to be agreed, our only expense in terms of transfer costs.

Carragher, who was quoted by the Daily Star, says that he understands that us fans want to see the arrival of bigger names. However, he also pointed out that by getting these kind of deals done early, we’ve paved the way for us to splash the cash later on down the line.

“The supporters understandably want to see supposed big names and big money spent but the club should be given credit for getting three deals done already as there is very little activity regarding transfers from any clubs at this stage,” said the veteran centre-back, who is preparing to play for the Liverpool Legends against Real Madrid on Sunday.

“Also if Liverpool bring some money in from transfers that could also alter who they go for so it maybe a waiting game for the bigger transfers.”

The Reds have been widely linked with a move for Inter Milan midfielder Mateo Kovacic and, if reports in Italy are to be believed, the Croatian could become our first big money addition of the summer in the near future.
