Roberto Firmino has signed for a Premier League club, says his agent

It appears that previous Liverpool transfer target Roberto Firmino (via Metro) will be moving to an English club this summer, but the Daily Star are very confident that Manchester will be his destination rather than Merseyside…

His agent Roger Wittmann has confirmed that his Brazilian client is moving to England, and while he didn’t state where, the Daily Star report is convinced that Old Trafford is his destination, with a £13.1m transfer fee mooted.

“All I can say is that he will move to England,” Wittmann said.

Firmino currently plies his trade in the Bundesliga for Hoffenheim, where he has excelled over the past two seasons. In that time, he’s plundered 32 goals in all competitions, which is a remarkably impressive statistic considering he’s usually deployed as an attacking midfielder.

For the rumoured £13.1m transfer fee, he’d be a serious, serious bargain. Firmino now gets in the Brazil side next to our very own Coutinho, and at 23-years-old, he’s only going to get better.

It would be a real travesty if United have beaten us to his cheap signature without a fight. They already have Memphis Depay, Angel di Maria, Juan Mata and Adnan Januzay to name but a few competing for attacking midfield spots – while we badly need someone who will inject goals into the side.

Last term, our top scorer in all competitions was Steven Gerrard with 13, which really isn’t good enough. Daniel Sturridge will hopefully contribute more in 2014/15 if he can stay fit, but he needs goalscorers around him.

Firmino, especially for the mentioned price, would be a real boost for Liverpool, but if he is going to United, we’ll have to focus on other targets.
