‘Liverpool insider’ confirms Clyne is on his way to Anfield

We have been linked with a move to sign Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne this summer (via the Metro), but so far nothing has materialised. A transfer may well come to fruition however, as the Metro claim ‘Liverpool insider’ Tony Evans has backed the move to happen.

Evans is the Times football editor, and an alleged authority on Liverpool. He is often privy to information others are not, and has in the past broken stories before they were announced.

“I think so, yes,” Evans responded when asked whether Liverpool would sign Clyne (via the Metro).

“They [Liverpool] are very keen on him. I think they will have to get nearer to Southampton’s valuation of around £15 million to bring him in.”

Clyne was exceptional for the Saints last season, and would be an excellent acquisition. We are badly in need of a new right-back, and he would arguably be the perfect signing.

He’s young, improving every day, and is excellent both defensively and going forward. It would be fantastic to see him join the club, and for an up and coming England international, £15m would not be a huge amount.
