Huge news has just broken, with Sky Sports News reporting that we have agreed a deal to sign 1899 Hoffenheim star Roberto Firmino. It was announced on their official Twitter account, and when it’s reported on Sky Sports it is usually reliable.
It’s fantastic on a number of levels, and is a superb signing to have sealed so early in the summer. He is a top quality player, and was one of the standout performers in the Bundesliga last season. On top of that, he was heavily tipped to join Manchester United (via the Metro), so to have beaten them to his signing makes it all the sweeter.

A fee has not been revealed yet, although a number of figures have been touted recently. Manchester United were believed to have had a £13.1m bid accepted (via the Metro), but more recently rumours of an £18m (via the Express) price tag have been bandied around.
The Brazilian is truly top class, and will really add something to our side. We recently did a scout report on the 23-year-old, which illustrates exactly what he would bring to Anfield and where he would fit into the current side.
