Negotiations with Swedish international at advanced stages

Brendan Rodgers looks to be investing heavily in the future, with yet another young defender linked with a move to Liverpool. Swedish international Ludwig Augustinsson – a star of the U21 European Championship – is apparently close to making the switch to Anfield, with negotiations at an advanced stage, according to Goal.

The 21-year-old only has two senior caps for Sweden, but is a hugely promising young star. He joined IFK Goteborg last January, and has already attracted the attention of some top European clubs.

Our back line hasn’t exactly been uniform in recent months, and Brendan Rodgers seems unaware of his best defensive unit. Alberto Moreno was our first-choice left-back last season, and he was certainly impressive at times. He could do with some decent competition however, and Augustinsson looks capable of providing that.

The young left-back was in the news recently for criticising the England U21 side, labelling the young Lions “a little overrated”, and stating that “some players go for such sick amounts of money in England and is a bit more expensive than what they are worth.”

He wouldn’t be the marquee signing many of us are hoping to see, but at the right price he certainly wouldn’t be a bad acquisition.
