In this article I will discuss my view on Liverpool’s signing of 23 year old Roberto Firmino and if he could prove crucial for Liverpool this season.

To start, Firmino has managed to score 7 times in the Bundesliga this season, along with earning 10 assists. Meaning he has the 3rd most assists in the Bundesliga this season. Also, Firmino has an average of around 3 shots per game, which is better than Raheem Sterling, Luis Suarez, Danny Ings and Christian Benteke.

Moreover, from watching Firmino play, it is clear to see he likes to dribble and cut inside. He also seems confident on the ball and is not afraid to perform skills and take people on. Firmino could also see himself playing alongside fellow Brazilian Phillipe Coutinho next season, with the two attacking midfielders providing pace and flair to energise the team and spice up the midfield.

Firmino has proved to be an important player for Hoffenheim this season. He has had the most assists, most man of the match awards, and averaged the most shots per game in his squad. He has also scored many crucial goals which secured Hoffenheim 8th place in the Bundesliga. Without Firmino’s goals Hoffenheim would of lost around 12 points, which would of placed them even lower in the league table.

In addition to this, Firmino has also had a flying start for Brazil, scoring 4 goals in 9 appearances. Proving he can step up his game on the international stage.

Furthermore, Brazil legend Ronaldinho believes Firmino and Coutinho would provide a deadly strike force. Showing he is a recognised talent and has the potential to be a true success at Anfield.

Overall, I think that Firmino could have a big impact on our squad. He has the flair, pace, and goals to earn us them extra few points to finish in the top four and has the talent to be a regular starter. Also he will create competition in the squad due to his ability, meaning other attacking midfielders will have to step up their game. This will remove any laziness from the squad and will make the team more ambitious and competitive.
