In terms of Liverpool transfer rumours that refuse to go away this summer, Pedro is right up there with Mateo Kovacic and Christian Benteke. The Barcelona star has been linked with the Reds again today, this time by Sport.

According to the source, Pedro does want to stay with the Catalans and demonstrated his faith by extending his current contract up until the summer of 2019.

However, Sport believes that the presence of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez – who are all ahead of him in the pecking order – could convince the forward to move if an offer does come in from the Premier League.

Arsenal are also believed to have expressed an interest in the 27-year-old, who has scored 98 goals in 318 appearances for the La Liga giants and won 19 major honours, including three Champions League titles.

Ultimately, we can’t see anything coming of this one, even if Raheem Sterling does make his proposed move to Manchester City (via The Independent). The signing of Roberto Firmino means that we have plenty of options in the attacking midfield positions and our money is likely to be saved for an out-and-out centre forward.

What is intriguing is that rumours such as the ones linking us with Pedro and Kovacic continue to circulate – why would they do so if there wasn’t any interest there in the first place? We’ll have to wait and see.
