Liverpool striker set for Championship loan deal

It appears that Jerome Sinclair might be sent on a season long loan deal, if murmurings in the Echo today are to be believed.

Burnley, who we signed Danny Ings from earlier this summer, are mooted candidates.

The 18-year-old, who turns 19 in September, was given two Premier League appearances by Brendan Rodgers at the back end of last term – with the manager favouring him over Mario Balotelli on the bench.

Sinclair was also sent to Wigan for a period, but because of the Championship side’s perilous position at the time, they barely used him, opting for more experienced forwards instead.

In fairness, despite tearing up trees in the youth leagues – Sinclair has done very little when given a first-team opportunity – and a proper loan move could do him good.

Jordon Ibe proved last season with his spell at Derby County that if you do well in the Championship, Rodgers will call you back and give you a real chance for Liverpool.

Now Ibe is considered a valued member of the first-team squad rather than just a player with potential.

Let’s hope Sinclair moves to a club where he’s valued and given minutes, as it’ll do him no good whatsoever to merely go and train with a Championship club too afraid to test his mettle.
