Brendan Rodgers puts Alberto Moreno mystery to bed

There is in fact nothing untoward about Alberto Moreno‘s absence from the first two pre-season friendlies of the tour of the Far East and Australia.

The young Spanish left-back has been suffering with an injury, but Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that he’s back in training and will be fit and healthy soon.

Many fans had been questioning why he’d yet to make an appearance despite being part of the 30-man travelling squad.

James Pearce from the Liverpool Echo confirmed the news following our 2-1 victory against Brisbane Roar today.

The official website also claimed Moreno could be ready to face Adelaide United in our friendly on Monday, and it’ll be good to see the talented fullback again after a debut season that promised much but ultimately failed to entirely deliver.

The 23-year-old though will have been watching the progress of summer signing Joe Gomez carefully, too. In Moreno’s absence, Gomez has shone, and was the best defender on the pitch in Brisbane.

If the 18-year-old keeps up his current level, he’ll be pushing Moreno for a first-team spot.
