With Benteke’s signature secured I was curious to see what the bookies are thinking about Liverpool’s strikers’ odds for the upcoming season.
Well, according to the odds provided by SportsBettingOnline.net this is how Benteke ranks when compared to other strikers in the EPL.
Top goal scorers odds
Unfortunately the odds don’t look favorable that Sturridge will play many games this season and that is why he doesn’t make the list.
Benteke had 49 goals, 13 assists in 101 games for Villa and based on this his numbers should only go up at Liverpool where he will have the likes of Coutinho and Firmino feeding him. He is only 24 and hasn’t hit his peak yet, making him the stand out bet for the EPL top goal scorer.
Hard to know if Rodgers will play 2 strikers or not but I feel that he will stick with Benteke as the lone frontman and Ings to play a bit part role this season. Based on this I think he may feature in Cup games and make many substitute appearances. Ladbrokes set the line for his goal total in all competitions:
0-5 goals 14/1
6-10 goals – 6/4
11-15 goals -6/5
Over 16 goals – 4/1
Over 20 – 16/1
To be Liverpool’s top goal scorer 13/8
To be the Top Europa League Goalscorer (Group Stage onwards) – 33/1
To be Top Premier League Goalscorer 66/1
Other Liverpool bets:
Not popular as no Liverpool fan would ever bet against the club however the fact that Skybet have us at 50/1 to lose the first three games is good news. We face Stoke at the Britannia, Bournemouth at home and then Arsenal away. The new players have a lot of pressure on them to perform and gel and the others will make sure that we go to the Britannia and not return empty handed following the last game of last season. Bournemouth will be tricky but I believe we should prevail, Arsenal away is always tough but if we walk away with a point I will be ecstatic.
