(Video) Watch every touch of Roberto Firmino’s promising Liverpool debut, here

Our wonderfully exciting summer signing Roberto Firmino played his first game for us against Swindon yesterday, and did enough to leave Liverpool fans drooling with anticipation for the upcoming season.

While Firmino’s fellow blockbuster summer arrival Christian Benteke stole the headlines with a wonder goal, Firmino’s all-round contribution was actually more impressive.

The 23-year-old Brazilian was deployed in a free attacking midfield role, and he ticked over our attacks, playing nicely weighted first-touch passes. He was also happy to run with the ball when given the opportunity, and should have had an assist to his name when Benteke missed from close range after a perfect Firmino pull back.

Whether he did enough to force Brendan Rodgers to give him a start next week is another matter, but he’ll certainly be in contention despite missing the majority of pre-season.
