Done Deal: Liverpool confirm Balotelli has completed return to AC Milan

Liverpool have today confirmed that Mario Balotelli has completed a season-long loan move to AC Milan.

Balotelli, who joined the Reds from Milan for £16m last summer (via BBC Sport), has endured a difficult time of it at Anfield – scoring just four goals during 28 appearances in all competitions.

His most memorable moment came back in February when he netted his one and only Premier League goal for the Reds, the winner against Tottenham Hotspur in a 3-2 win at Anfield.

He also scored against Ludogorets in the Champions League, Swansea City in the League Cup and Besiktas in the Europa League – when he demanded to take a penalty which was originally handed to Jordan Henderson.

Sadly, the 25-year-old’s spell on Merseyside has been blighted by the same disciplinary issues which have littered his entire career – with The Independent detailing some of his worst moments both on and off the pitch.

Balotelli will no doubt be hoping that he can rediscover his best form during his third stint in Serie A, as he looks to reclaim a spot in the Italian national team ahead of Euro 2016.

We wish him well for the future.
