Brendan Rodgers is the favourite in the Premier League manager sack-race, reports the Independent.
Following two consecutive Premier League defeats on the back of last season’s miserable campaign, the Northern Irishman is undeniably in serious trouble, although the Express’s Paul Joyce claim his job is safe for now – with FSG anticipating a slow start.
If he’s wrong though, there’ll be a number of candidates ready to replace him, and we’ve shortlisted the current seven favourites according to Sky Bet – as mentioned on Odds Checker.
7) Pako Ayesteran – 20/1
An outside shot, but an interesting one. Pako was brilliant as Liverpool’s assistant manager under Rafa Benitez, and played a huge part in us getting to two Champions League finals and one semi-final during the Spaniard’s reign. He’s since become a manager in his own right, winning a treble with Maccabi Tel Aviv last season, before turning down a role as a coach with us (via the Mirror) to manage Mexican outfit Santos Laguna instead. If we were to offer him the job proper, we imagine his answer would be very different. But does Pako really have enough elite experience just yet to take the Liverpool helm?
