I must be honest, although I was expecting FSG to fire Brendan Rodgers I didn’t think it would happen so early in the season. So now the big question is, who will succeed Rodgers at Anfield?
There are many names mentioned however the name that everyone keeps talking as a favourite is Jurgen Klopp. Many Liverpool fans would like to see Klopp at Anfield and the hashtag #KloppForTheKop has been trending for a while. The bookies (including the great 10Bet) seem to all agree with the prospect of Klopp becoming the next Liverpool manager.
Klopp took a sabbatical last summer after managing Borussia Dortmund for seven years. In the seven years at Dortmund, Klopp managed to break the monopoly enjoyed by Bayern Munich. He was able to haul two Bundesliga titles and three domestic cups. On the European front we remember how he led Dortmund to the Champions League final in the 2012-13 season.
So now the big question is whether FSG will make Klopp our new gaffer. Let us hope they have learnt the lesson and understand that in football you need big name managers to attract big name players. Without that we will sink into mediocrity.
