Zeljko Buvac faces race against time to make dugout v Tottenham

Where is Liverpool’s new assistant manager?

While Jurgen Klopp and Peter Krawietz have been taking training sessions at Melwood this week in preparation for the Saturday clash with Tottenham, there’s been no sign of Klopp’s right-hand man Zeljko Buvac – the man dubbed ‘The Brain’ for this tactical nous.

But the Daily Mail claim it’s because the Bosnian is experiencing work-permit issues, because Bosnia aren’t yet in the EU.

Buvac will eventually join up with Klopp and Krawietz, but for now, it’s looking unlikely he’ll be available for our trip to White Hart Lane in four days’ time.

Buvac has worked with Klopp for 14 seasons, for both Borussia Dortmund and Mainz – having first met him while the pair played for the latter in the 1990s.

The renowned assistant is credited with much of the tactical genius Dortmund displayed during their heyday a few seasons back.

More players will return from international duty today to meet Klopp and Krawietz for the first time, but will have to wait for the first meeting with Buvac.
