Daniel Sturridge injury update: Liverpool striker still absent from training

Those hoping to see Daniel Sturridge back in the lineup for the League Cup tie with Bournemouth on Wednesday evening are likely to be disappointed, with the Telegraph reporting that he’s still not returned to training.

The 26-year-old wasn’t present with the rest of the first-team during Monday’s session, since suffering a bruised knee in the buildup to Jurgen Klopp’s first match versus Tottenham.

With Sturridge set to miss tomorrow’s fixture, it will be four games absent because of a slight knock, which perfectly sums up Sturridge’s injury record, sadly.

When fit and on song he’s one of the best strikers in the Premier League, but he finds it practically impossible to maintain a clean bill of health.

This situation is all the more frustrating because of our inability to find the back of the net without him. In 2015, Liverpool have scored more than two goals in just two of our 44 matches against Tottenham and Aston Villa. Sturridge played in both of them.
