Can Reds Give Mourinho Halloween Nightmare ?
This Saturday Liverpool face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League’s lunch-time kick-off on Halloween. The recent history between the two clubs has resulted in a new rivalry intensified under Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho’s time in charge.
Liverpool supporters are still hurting from Chelsea’s win at Anfield a couple of seasons ago when Mourinho “parked the bus” at Anfield before driving away with the three points that all but killed Liverpool’s dreams of winning their first Premier League title.
But Liverpool have been a thorn in Mourinho’s side over the years and knocked his Chelsea side out of two Champions League semi-finals.
Both teams have struggled so far this season and Liverpool’s struggles cost Brendan Rodgers his job but supporters are now more optimistic about the future since the arrival of new manager Jurgen Klopp and especially after the German earned his first win in a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday night.
With Chelsea struggling many people think a defeat to Liverpool could see Mourinho sacked and that would be sweet revenge for many supporters after his part in scuppering their title dreams not so long ago.
But important fixtures are Mourinho’s speciality and he has a knack of winning the big games and Saturday’s fixture is massive for his future at Chelsea.
Hopefully this Halloween will be the end for Mourinho and Liverpool can put the final nail in his coffin.
