Sturridge’s scan showed no muscle or ligament damage

Daniel Sturridge pulled out of training with a foot complaint before our Europa League victory over Bordeaux on Thursday, but it turns out he’d not actually damaged his foot at all.

According to Dom King of the Daily Mail, the resulting scan showed zero muscle or ligament damage – which will likely frustrate increasingly disillusioned Liverpool fans further.

The fact Sturridge hadn’t actually hurt himself badly again is of course positive, but it perhaps explains his manager Jurgen Klopp’s press-conference on Friday morning.

The German, who’s yet to be able to call upon the English striker, said Sturridge needs to “learn the difference between serious pain and pain” – in what can be interpreted as a dig at the forward to make more effort to get himself on the pitch.
