AC Milan team-mate names Mario Balotelli’s ‘dream club’ amid nonsense Liverpool links

AC Milan’s Spanish goalkeeper Diego Lopez claims the Italian striker still has ambitions to play at the highest echelons of European football – notably Real Madrid!

Gazzetta quote the stopper who’s been out injured over the past few months, and now has to win his place back from 16-year-old wonderkid Gianluigi Donnarumma.

“Mario isn’t like people paint him out to be,” Lopez said. “He is a nice guy and a good player and you know what? His dream is to play for Real Madrid.”

Following his £16m move from Milan to Liverpool in summer 2014, Balotelli sullied his reputation with a string of dreadful performances, made worse by countless stories of off the field misdemeanours. His current club only agreed to take him on loan providing we contribute a portion of his wages, which goes some way in explaining how far the Italian, currently injured, is from ever signing for the Bernabeu club.

On the same day as the quotes emerged, talkSPORT published a story claiming Liverpool actually want to swap Balotelli for Lopez permanently next summer!

But it’s nonsense.

Jurgen Klopp today claimed in his press-conference that he’s delighted with Simon Mignolet (via the Guardian), and even if we were looking to replace the Belgian – we’d set our sights higher than Lopez – who despite having previously played for Real Madrid – is a one-time capped 34-year-old.
