West Brom winger calls Klopp an “idiot”

West Brom’s winger James McClean has called our boss “a bit of an idiot” after refusing to shake Tony Pulis’ hand following our game last weekend – according to the Echo.

“I’ve got a lot of respect for the man because he done a great job at Dortmund”, said McClean. “But I think he is a bit of an idiot to be honest on the game on Sunday. Win, lose or draw you have got to be respectful.”

For his part, Klopp said he refused the shake on the basis that West Brom didn’t play a clean game.

“Usually I shake hands, today I did not”, he said. “It was not a friendly game, everybody saw it. I wish [Pulis] all the best”.

Klopp’s actions were presumably instigated by Craig Gardner’s challenge on Dejan Lovren, which means our rapidly-improving centre-back will miss three weeks as he recovers.

To be fair, McClean is in no position to be calling anyone an idiot, or discussing ‘respect’ whist on the pitch.

In the last six months alone he’s been charged with inciting Sunderland fans, turned his back on the English national anthem during a pre-season match, and refused to wear an armband on Remembrance Sunday.

Very respectful James, very respectful…
