We beat Sunderland 1-0 at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday night, with our big Belgian getting the winner for the second game in succession.
The goal came just 22 seconds after half time when a deft touch from Adam Lallana left Benteke with the chance to slot home.
Unfortunately, for the second game in succession he also missed a late one-on-one that would have wrapped up the points.
This time it was Firmino who supplied the assist, but Benteke seemed to have too long to think and couldn’t capitalise.

It is the balance between the comical and the sublime which has spurred the Twitter debate.
Is Benteke doing what is asked of him by scoring goals and winning matches, or does his general approach to the game make him incompatible with Klopp’s system long-term?

Thought Lucas was outstanding when he came on tonight. Thought Benteke played well, shame about the miss but he’s won us 6 points this week!

The miss of #Benteke is awful but don’t dismiss his work rate and effort for the win. He works hard today. #LFC

Swear some ‘fans’ take more satisfaction from moaning about a Benteke miss than they do from him scoring a winner.

Fair play to Benteke. Still don’t think he suits our football though. I’d sell him if we got our money back.

Mr. Benteke, this is not Aston Villa. You have to up your game or Klopp will sell you.

Benteke is so bad, don’t care that he scored.. Should sell him

Benteke needs to go, doesn’t fit. I just hope we aren’t stupid enough to sell to Chelsea, where he’d flourish.
