Klopp wants Bundesliga flyer on loan this January

Another day, another German linked to Liverpool Football Club.

This time it’s Sidney Sam, the out of favour Schalke winger, exclusively reported by German publication Kicker.

According to their story, Jurgen Klopp’s earmarked a move for the pacy attacker who’s not been able to get in Schalke’s team this year du to the emergence of Leroy Sane.

In fact, the 27-year-old’s made just two appearances this season, both in the Europa League, so it’s understandable that he’ll be doing everything he can to get out.

Sam has five caps for Germany, but these came when he was excelling for Bayer Leverkusen – his former club for whom he scored 24 Bundesliga goals for in 92 appearances – a very decent ratio.

His transfer to Schalke has proved a disaster tough, and he’s not troubled the scorers since arriving two years back.

For this reason, we can’t get too excited about the links to Sam. If we were to acquire him on loan, he’d be nothing more than a squad filler to bolster us during the current injury crisis.

With the likes of Ryan Kent and Sheyi Ojo recalled from loan though, we’d prefer the youngsters got more chances than signing average players in their place.

The only positive about the current injury problems is that it’ll give our teenagers an opportunity.
