Klopp responds to Pato rumours

To Liverpool fans getting excited about the Alex Pato links, we’ve got some bad news for you – as delivered by Jurgen Klopp.

The boss was asked about the stories linking the Brazilian to Anfield, but encouraged journalists to focus their attention elsewhere.

“You don’t have to follow the Pato path any longer… That’s only my private advice,” he said – speaking ahead of the crunch Premier League fixture with Arsenal on Wednesday.

Reports in the Daily Star this morning indicated that an £11m deal had been struck, but that should be the last of them following these Klopp comments.

The news is a shame as Pato’s pace, skill and trickery would significantly bolster our currently shoddy forward line – especially for the relatively low rumoured fee.

It also likely rubbishes yesterday’s reports in the Express (among others) that Daniel Sturridge is available for £25m. If we aren’t looking to bring in another forward this January, it’s surely impossible that we’d get rid our best (when fit…) striker.
