Did you agree with Klopp’s team selection against West Ham ?
Jurgen Klopp’s team selection for the Fourth Round FA Cup tie against West Ham raised a few eyebrows, the German made numerous changes to his team that won through to the Capital One Cup final on Tuesday night by beating Stoke City on penalties.
It is understandable to see Klopp trying to rest so many regular first team players with such a hectic fixture schedule that Liverpool have, but after two defeats in the Premier League to West Ham it was the perfect opportunity for Liverpool to gain some revenge with a home tie against the Hammers.
Personally, I feared the worst when I saw the team selected, and especially with Slaven Bilic fielding such a strong team.
Although Klopp selected a youthful side, he did select a strong defence with Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren and Caulker all starting.
The game was not a classic and did not produce many chances but Liverpool did look the most threatening and the youngsters did not let the club down with eyecatching performances from Stewart and Brannagan.
The last thing Klopp needed was another game, and unfortunately that is what he got after a 0-0 draw earning the Reds a replay, and Klopp will probably select a similar side in the replay.
I was surprised Klopp didn’t have a stronger bench but it is commendable to see him put his trust in so many youngsters in such a big competition and they have probably earned themselves another opportunity in the replay.
