We still quite can’t believe it, but Alex Teixeira has signed for Chinese club Jiangsu Suning for £38.4m – meaning Liverpool have definitely, definitely missed out on our no.1 January target.
Jurgen Klopp refused to pay that kind of money for the 26-year-old Brazilian, who despite constant claims that he wants a Premier League move to aid his chances of an international call-up, has decided to move to China purely for the dosh.
His reported wage will make him the world’s tenth highest paid player.
Ramires, Jackson Martinez and Fredy Guarin all also moved to the CSL this January, choosing wages over their footballing reputation.
Here’s what Liverpool fans have made of the bizarre news.

If we paid €50m for Alex Teixeira, he’d have joined and we’d have got a wonderful player. But all his comments prior to it was pathetic.

Guarin, Ramires, Martinez, and now Teixeira. It looks like money can buy many things including 4 talented players souls. #LFC

Teixeira to China for £38m? Klopp could have signed him for that, the club said they’d pay it but Klopp chose not to. Roll on the summer.

Weird thing about Teixeira to Chin is that it cost £38m. Despite strong reports saying we bid around £35m, surely an extra £3m was possible

Shakhtar Donetsk paid €6m for Teixeira, sold for €50m. Wonder if Nanjing’s architecture & parks or the £10m-yr post-tax salary clinched it.

Don’t worry lads, we’ll get Teixeira in the summer. The magical summer where everything will turn to gold and honey and gummy drop trees.

Remember when Alex Teixeira REALLY REALLY wanted to play in the Premier League?

The way Teixeira has treated @LFC is quite disgusting and I usually hate Liverpool. He is nearly as bad as Delph. Hope he does horribly.

How the hell was the deal of Alex Teixeira to Liverpool failed?

Alex Teixeira to CSL + Sturridge may be leaving. Yet I don’t think these are worse than having benteke as striker
