If there’s one thing we can take from last night’s FA Cup defeat to West Ham, it’s probably that Daniel Sturridge returned and looked excellent.
But we shouldn’t ignore the performance of 22-year-old Kevin Stewart in holding midfield either. The youngster, who’s only got his chance through an injury crisis in reality, has proven in the FA Cup that he’s good enough to become a Liverpool squad member.
Despite failing on loan at Swindon earlier in the campaign, he’s showing the temperament and ability to succeed at Anfield.
In fact, with Lucas performing so admirably as a centre-half, it could be that the Brazilian drops back into defence and Stewart is given more chances in central midfield.
