We drew 0-0 in our Europa League last 32 game against Augsburg tonight, a result which marked our second consecutive clean sheet away from home but also meant we’ll have to field a strong side in a week’s time, just three days before the League Cup final against Man City.
Daniel Sturridge once again came through an hour of football unscathed, while Firmino and Moreno both went close to winning the game.
Augsburg also had chances – they hit the post late on and forced Mignolet into a few smart saves.

In the old days a cleansheet away from home in Europe was seen as solid gold, whoever it was against. No slouches.

FT 0-0 not arsed about the performance. Thought we defended set pieces well tonight & Sturridge got 70mins.

Moreno the only reason I’m still watching.

0-0 away in Europe is a fine result. I get wanting to rest players in the 2nd leg with the cup final three days later but such is life.

I remember in 2003 we played Auxerre a few days before beating United at Cardiff so it’s not the end of the world.
