During his lengthy injury layoff, many have accused Daniel Sturridge of not caring or not wanting it enough, but his tears after yesterday’s League Cup final defeat suggest otherwise.
The striker, recently back from a series of debilitating injuries, actually played quite poorly, and couldn’t take a penalty due to cramp.
His fellow attackers, bar Coutinho, also struggled to impose themselves on the game, with Liverpool only having their first shot on target on the 83rd minute.
Sturridge is our long-term centre-forward option, but missed his opportunity for a first trophy since signing for Liverpool in January 2013.
Hopefully, he’ll get plenty more chances to make up for it.
