Henderson: “We need more consistency to compete”

Our captain Jordan Henderson has been speaking to the media today, saying he accepts we need more consistency if we are to move up the Premier League table.

“I think consistency has been our biggest downfall,” he said (via Echo)

“Some games have been very good and we look as though we can beat anyone and other days we’ve been poor and haven’t really turned up.

“We need to make sure we get that right and are more consistent in each game and I think if you do that you get a run of games when you are winning and the confidence is high and you start putting in those performances like that more consistently and start working your way up the league.””We need to consistently win games and perform in games but I think there are a lot of teams in the league like that.

“There is only probably Leicester who have been very consistent. I know Spurs have been very good of late but they got beat, Arsenal got beat, United were on a bad run and now they are doing quite well. The league has been up and down.”

Henderson is certainly right; we haven’t won more than two consecutive league game since March last year, and we’ve only won back-to-back league games four times all season.

Can we still get in the top four if we go on a good run at this stage? How likely is it?
