One of our best performers last night during the victory against Manchester City was our Brazilian no.11 Roberto Firmino.
Not only did the 24-year-old provide a goal and an assist, but his overall work in the final third was outstanding. He held the ball up when he needed to, played clever first time passes at will and put City’s defence to the sword.
Without Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge alongside him, Firmino proved he can put a real shift in as the side’s talisman, and his attacking relationship with Adam Lallana was especially promising.
Firmino’s now registered seven goals and assists apiece in the Premier League this term – not bad for someone considered a flop back in October. In the past seven League matches, he’s scored six and assisted four goals – those statistics are as good as anything in the Premier League.
Liverpool’s signing of the season, certainly.
