Emre Can must hate Fraser Forster…
And that’s because in two consecutive games, he’s watched his team go 2-0 up against Forster’s, before conceding three late goals and losing 3-2!
For Liverpool last weekend, Can started in midfield at St. Mary’s and thought his team was home and dry following goals from Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge – but Forster’s Southampton came back to win 3-2.
In Berlin’s Olympic Stadium last night, Can’s Germany took a 2-0 lead against Forster’s England – only to see the Three Lions score three late goals and win 3-2!
What’s certain is this – Can will never take his foot off the gas when his team is 2-0 up again.
For his country, Can is used as a right-back, due to the likes of Toni Kroos, Sami Khedira, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Ilkay Gundogan ahead of him in the central midfield pecking order.
He does a decent job at fullback, but his recent performances for Liverpool prove that his long-term future lies in the middle.
