Never before has a player who scored the winning goal in a World Cup final joined the Premier League. In fact, as a club, we haven’t signed a World Cup winner of any description since… Bernard Diomede.
It’s hardly unsurprising, therefore, that Liverpool fans around the world have been loving the increasing speculation that links Bayern Munich’s Mario Gotze with a move to Liverpool.
It is thought we could bag the midfielder for around £20 million given he is out of contract next summer (via Express).

I can’t believe Mario Gotze is going to Liverpool…

@HaroldHotspur I bet Gotze is only joining Liverpool so he can team up with Milner. Probably had posters of him on his bedroom wall

I’d be heartbroken if we didn’t sign Gotze. This signing is probably the most passionate and desperate player I want Liverpool to sign. #LFC

Still not convinced gotze a done deal yet, think fans need to stop commenting on his every move until he is in a Liverpool shirt #LFC

Can’t wait 4 Gotze 2 sign for City in the summer. Followed by Liverpool fans calling him shit and pretending this wank fest never happened.

Guardiola constantly makes the mistake of not playing Gotze. Great young talent, hope to see em at Liverpool with Klopp next year.
