Wantaway striker scores as U21s beat Leicester

Our Under 21s beat Leicester City 2-0 at the King Power Stadium on Monday, with wantaway striker Jerome Sinclair bagging the second goal (via Echo).

Defender Lloyd Jones scored the opener, as Adam Bogdan, Tiago Ilori, Sheyi Ojo, Cameron Brannagan, and Ryan Kent all played.

It was a great response by Michael Beale’s side after their 5-0 drubbing by Southampton in their last game.

Sinclair, who scored a precise near-post finish, is expected to leave the club this summer when his contract expires.

The Echo have reported that we are standing firm over his proposed move to Watford, and are prepared to let the fee be decided by a tribunal.

It is understood we rejected a bid of £1.75 million during the January transfer window, but because he is under the age of 24, we will be due a fee even if his contract expires.

Sinclair has since made five first team appearances for us, netting his only goal in the FA Cup third round game at Exeter.
